Covered double-deceker cycle racks at Hitchin Station.

Well-integrated cycle parking and build-outs for pedestrian crossing.

Double-deck parking at Hitchin station - how quickly this has become ubiquitous!

New double deck cycle racks at Royston.

Cycle parking at Royston Station. Not brilliantly installed though as some of it not accessible.

A much bigger cycle park has appeared here since I was last in Royston, well done whoever - I think it was a Sustrans Connect2 project.

Poorly-installed cycle parking: not possible to reach rear stands, so the number of spaces is reduced.

Fourth cycle shed at Letchworth station - seemingly beyond the ticket gates.

Three cycle sheds at Letchworth station

Covered cycle parking at Royston Station

Not the best photo but ... 'token' cycle parking near (not exactly "at" per se) Royston railway station.

Cycle parking beside Eastcheap.

Cycle parking opposite Blockbuster.

Poor front-wheel cycle parking between Eastcheap and Broadway. Sheffield stands could fit here quite easily.

Two covered cycle shelters at Royston station - smaller shelter on the down (Cambridge-bound) platform also visible at rear.

The central crossroads in Royston has been pleasantly pedestrianised, with minimal cycle parking.

The central crossroads in Royston has been pleasantly pedestrianised, with minimal cycle parking.

One of the sheffield stands removed by vandals is just tucked in behind the shelter. Why are FCC refusing to re-fit it ? It is a 10 minute job.

Baldock station cycle shed, nearly full with 10 bikes parked. Two stands have been removed by vandals (compare with #16745 ). FCC refuse to re-fit them even though one of those stands is just tucked at the back of the shelter (see #18890 … [more]

No cycle parking at the entrance to Morrisons

The new bike shed, shortly after installation of Sheffield stands - a big improvement over the previous wheel benders. Unfortunately two of the stands have gone missing and have not been replaced. The shed is now (2009) frequently full so … [more]

These stands in Whitehorse Street are well laid out but access and visibility from the road is poor due to the cars parked in front. There needs to be cycle parking dispersed regularly along the length of the street, not just one group … [more]

Cycle parking at Tesco is very poor. The stands are located nice and close to the entrance but the wheel bender design offers little support, and the paving slopes in both directions so a bike loaded with groceries rolls and crashes over. … [more]

There is plenty of space to add small groups of cycle stands all the way up Baldock High Street. Groups of 2-3 stands should be placed every 50m max to serve local businesses properly.

Well laid out cycle parking in Baldock High Street, but where is the two way cycle track that was planned in the NHDC Cycle Route masterplan ? There is certainly plenty of space for it. Cycle parking needs to be spaced out along the High … [more]

New, well laid out cycle parking racks outside BaldockTown Hall. Cycle parking provision along the High Street is thin. It needs small groups of 2-3 racks placed every 50m max on both sides of the High Street.

Well laid out cycle parking outside the library. Stands need to be better dispersed at no more than 50m intervals on both sides of the High Street.

Cycle parking outside Waitrose.

Another obvious candidate for cycle parking. Small shops, plenty of space. Needs some stands.

Royston seriously lacks cycle parking. Apart from the station, the leisure centre and a few stands at the end of the High St there is NOTHING. The Coombes Community Center, like most public buildings is a obvious candidate where there is a … [more]

Racks set much too close end to end force wheels to overlap. Difficult to park and with risk of damage when extracting. Unforgiveable. Cycle parking is so easy to get right.

Royston Station cycle parking - lots of it, good stands but badly laid out

Another wheel-less bike at Baldock station. With this type of stand only one wheel can be secured unless you use a long cable. This owner was lucky not to lose the frame as well.

Baldock station cycle shelter before being upgraded to Sheffield stands - single wheel grip stands only permit one wheel to be locked unless you use a long cable. The other wheel is a free gift to thieves and vandals.
