A cycle link can easily be created through to the preferred location of the toucan crossing #16579 here. This allows a simple connection without creating conflict with pedestrians.
This is where the toucan crossing needs to be positioned. Ideally a link should be created heading straight through the car parking area behind the planting opposite. See also #16574. Even if this link is not created, this crossing … [more]
HCC's proposal is to convert this footway to shared use and then have a toucan crossing over to a pavement cycleway on the east side. This pinch point restricts both physical width and visibility. It is not suitable for shared use and is … [more]
This access ramp is fine for pedestrians but is too tight for cycle access and makes conflict with pedestrians likely. the turn at the bottom of the ramp to reach the proposed toucan location is much too tight and then leads to a 2m wide … [more]
The existing access ramp is quite confined. There is greater likelihood of conflict if this is used for cycle access than if a new link is created through the adjacent parking area see #16574. HCC's proposed crossing position means that … [more]
The path connecting the Tene to the Twitchell / Simpson Drive needs little action other than to replace the barriers in the distance with ride through bollards.

This path is a useful link although rather too narrow for shared use. This is compensated for somewhat by the short length. The dropped kerb in the foreground must be made truly flush. Good vegetation control is essential to make the best … [more]
This path has poor width and visibility. It is not suitable for shared use and the benefits of converting it are questionable. Making Royston Road more cycle friendly, and developing HCC Links 7 and 8 would be a better use of resources.

New path needed to link with the Tene path (left) and into the end of The Twitchell and Thurnall close. Keep path away from the boundary to ensure good visibility. Cycle parking needed for recreation ground.
Baldock-Letchworth Route 4 The existing bridleway has a reasonably firm surface but needs to be sealed for utility cycling. Drainage required at the A1(M) subway.

The path from Coachmans Lane suffers from vandalism. The fence on the right was kicked down. It is better if this fence is not re-instated, allowing much better surveillance by residents to guard against antisocial behaviour.
